Don't Hold Yourself Back; You Can Do It!

Don't Hold Yourself Back; You Can Do It!

As an individual with many talents, you can do many things. You have skills that a lot of people have, and may have ones that not many people do. Of course, there are a lot of things that you currently can't do, but there are a lot of thing that you have done, and still can do.

Try not to be bogged down with thoughts of what you think you can't do. That leads you through a downward spiral of self-doubt. The more you think you can’t do something, the more likely that you’ll never learn how to do it. You can always learn new knowledge or skills with the right practice, patience, and persistence. Growing up, I used to think that I was horrible at public speaking. That changed when I was in college and ran for student government. During a month-long campaign, I spoke to countless classes and student organizations that I drastically improved my public speaking skills and my confidence in doing it.

Using what you're good at is your advantage. Not everyone is good at the same thing you are. Those skills are your strength and they are what can help you get ahead in your career or life in general. Sometime over the course of my career, I’ve learned that I’m really good at communicating expectations to people. Knowing that, no matter what context I’m in, I use that to my advantage in getting big projects done and goals reached.

If you're interested or passionate about something, you’re more likely to be better at it than things you have no interest in. Being passionate about what you’re doing is a motivational advantage. Right now, personal development is an area I’m highly interested in. Improving myself is something I’m passionate about and could talk about with anyone for hours, so I’m harnessing that passion to help others through Nourishment Notes.

If you're an expert in a specific topic (like health, finance, or playing the acoustic guitar), that makes you unique. Not everyone has expertise in the same field as you, so use it to your advantage. Use it to help others and also advance your life.

There is so much that you can do. You have the potential. Don't let negative thoughts such as fear or self-doubt get in the way. You can do it.
