Finding and Maintaining Balance is a Key Life Skill
Right now, there is so much uncertainty that it can be nerve-wrecking. The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown a twist into daily life and challenged notions of “normal” life in 2020. COVID-19 has taken many lives, and still continues to threaten many people today. On top of that, there is an economic downturn that threatens many people and their families. We are also dealing with lot of social unrest due to people being more outspoken about systemic racism, and how that is woven into the issues of police brutality, biases in the justice system, and the various ways it exists in our lives. We, as a society, are trying to find our way through all this.
For each and every one of us, we need to find and maintain balance.
Balance is a key to reaching successes in life. Too much or too little of something isn’t good for you. Take food for example. If you consistently have too much food, it’ll lead towards obesity and all the health problems that go with it. If you constantly have too little food, you’ll be deprived of essential nutrients that your body needs to function. You need to eat just enough to avoid starvation, but not too much to avoid overeating.
We need balance in our lives especially now. Many of us are trying to balance all the challenges that has been thrown at us this past year. Many of us are struggling to work from home. Many are struggling to work in public spaces during this pandemic. Many of us have young kids at home who need help with distance learning. Since many people lost their jobs at the beginning of the pandemic, many of us are also struggling to make ends meet economically. Many people are also balancing caring for their older parents, grandparents, and other relatives. Balance is very important, but it is a struggle.
Finding balance is hard. It’s not something you can physically look for or buy. It is something that we must create for ourselves. We must actively put in the effort to make wise decisions to keep the various factors in your life balanced. People may help you create this, but it’s ultimately up to us to create it. When we create balance, we lead a balanced lifestyle for ourselves
As hard as it is to find balance, maintaining it is even harder. That’s why finding and maintaining balance is an ongoing process throughout our lives.
