Try to Be Kind; If You Fail, It's Worth It
At times, our wonderful world is a cruel place. Unfortunately, you can see a lot of it going on right now.
During this pandemic, you can see how selfish people can be. Wearing a mask may inconvenience you, but it helps keep other people safe. You can also see people be both blatantly and subtly racist. These problems aren’t new. They’re something our society has been dealing with for decades.
Ignorance, in all its forms, is a plague on the soul of our society. When it’s allowed to thrive, ignorance breeds more ignorance faster than wildfire, and often disguises itself in many friendly forms. It’s heart wrenching.
For the past few months, I’ve been putting extra effort on being kind. I consider myself a generally kind person, but I think kindness is needed more right now.
It can be hard at times, especially when I see the ugly side of humanity come out. Simply, my goal has been to be kind. I try not to act out of anger, but more from a place of understanding and compassion.
I’m not perfect. I fail, but when I do, I fail at being kind, which is something I’d consider a noble failure.
So let’s see what tomorrow brings.
