On Gratitude During This Pandemic

On Gratitude During This Pandemic

Right now, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I am very thankful for what I have right now. I’m healthy, my family is healthy, and we are all overall okay. I’m fortunate to still be employed. I know not a lot of people are suffering and facing hardship right now, and it’s heartbreaking. I’m grateful for everything that my family and I have and the life that we are currently living.

Just because I’m grateful, that doesn’t meant that I’m blind t all the problems that are in front of me. I’m still living in a pandemic that has no end sight. I’m working from home and I’m putting in much more effort than I usually do to keep my head above water. My kids are navigating through the challenges of distance learning through online video sessions and multiple websites. Even though they’ve been in distance learning since March, it still is challenging. I know that the economy is fragile and is still on thin ice. And with this being an election year, the United States is more politically divided than I have ever experienced. These are all serious issues, but that doesn’t rob me of the capability of being grateful.

And so, right now, as I am sitting at home and writing this, I am taking some time to practice gratitude. I am thankful for the peace of mind knowing that my family being safe and secure right now. I’m thankful that we are physically, emotionally, and financially stable. I’m thankful for my cup of coffee every morning. I’m thankful for the food in the fridge. I am thankful for every text message, video call, direct message, or phone call from my friends. They all fulfill my heart.
